Lawn Mower Tire Repair For At-Home DIY-ers

The tire on your wheelbarrow, lawn tractor, snow blower or other piece of equipment goes flat. How do you repair a lawn mower tire? If it’s not obviously punctured, and if you can get air into it, you may be able to get back to work quickly.

All you need is a strap and an air pump to repair a lawn mower tire! If the air is leaking out because the tire is not making good contact with the rim, you can place the strap around the tire and tighten it. This should push the tire onto the rim to stop air leakage. After the strap, add air into the tire until you can get the  tire to the right pressure. You can also use a ratchet strap to repair a lawn mower tire.

We used an air filler like this one. We connected it to a small air compressor.

  1. this is an example of over kill. all one needs is a piece of rope or nylon cord and an air tank. too much $$$$$ your way.

    1. Didn’t cost a dime. We already had the strap and the air. This would be nearly impossible with a bike pump but yes, certainly a portable air tank would work well if you didn’t have a compressor.

  2. This video is the first truly intelligent and helpful thing I saw all day. Have a tire off the rim can’t get the tire off the mower and in the morning I am going too get me a strap and a compressor. hope it works for me. They want over a hundred dollars just to come get the mower. Thanks for the tip in tire repair!!!!!!!!!

  3. Pretty cool repair job! Never thought of this as a way to repair leaking tires on dollies, lawnmowers, and wheelbarrows! I’ll be sure to use this one! Thanks guys!
